HONE Workshop is owned and operated by Deagan McDonald.
Deagan holds a Masters of Architecture from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design. He has worked in the field for the offices of KPMB Architects (Toronto), Kengo Kuma & Associates (Tokyo), and Michael Green Architecture (Vancouver).
Prior to founding HONE Workshop, Deagan worked for the Daniels Faculty as a Facilities Coordinator in their Digital Fabrication Lab. He oversaw the day-today operations and managed production of student work, as well as provided educational content and training to students on the range of equipment available to them. Working closely with the Faculty Woodshop, he coordinated fabrication work for internal exhibitions, professional research endeavors, and furniture installations for their new building at 1 Spadina Crescent.
Deagan is the co-founder of ORIGINS, alongside his wife Kelsey Nilsen. Established in Vancouver in 2019, ORIGINS designs and produces a line of furniture, sculpture, and home décor products.
ORIGINS manufactures their work here at HONE Workshop.

We offer design based consultation, problem solving, and fabrication insights for emerging products and ideas.
We engage the local design economy by offering prototyping and proof of concept services for artists, product/industrial/furniture/interior designers, and other creative businesses.
We work with local creative studios to realize custom furniture and woodworking solutions for their projects, across many scales.
We supplement existing workflows and manufacturers by offering contracted CNC services and specified part fabrication.
Our process is open and collaborative. We are happy to work with you at any stage or scope of work, whether you have just a napkin sketch or a full set of shop drawings.
