HONE Workshop is owned and operated by Deagan McDonald.
Deagan holds a Masters of Architecture from the John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape & Design. He has worked in the field for the offices of KPMB Architects (Toronto), Kengo Kuma & Associates (Tokyo), and Michael Green Architecture (Vancouver).
Prior to founding HONE Workshop, Deagan worked for the Daniels Faculty as a Facilities Coordinator in their Digital Fabrication Lab. He oversaw the day-today operations and managed production of student work, as well as provided educational content and training to students on the range of equipment available to them. Working closely with the Faculty Woodshop, he often coordinated fabrication work for internal exhibitions, professional research endeavors, and furniture installations for their new building at 1 Spadina Crescent.
An ingrained belief in the importance of wood as a building material and a penchant for the technological craft used to shape it inspired ORIGINS, a small scale design and fabrication studio. Co-founded with his partner Kelsey Nilsen, ORIGINS seeks innovative, experimental, and unique design solutions across a broad scope of problems.
ORIGINS is the foundation and anchor tenant of HONE Workshop.
